Welcome!
Not sure which publication you're thinking of. One of the Isaiah books maybe? I don't have them here, and haven't installed WTlib on this computer... not that I'm really missing any of them. LOL
my first post here after about 6 months of lurking.
i will comment more and give some more info later, but i am still active, and looking for my way to exit.
i had a question that i'm hoping someone can help with.
Welcome!

hi guys.
richard e. kelly has kindly contributed a great article to jwsurvey.org on the link below.... http://jwsurvey.org/child-abuse-2/bo-juel-jensen-could-he-be-watchtowers-worst-nightmare.
richard tells the story of bo juel jensen, an ex-witness who has been doing marvellous work in raising awareness of watchtower child abuse mishandling in norway.. as with most child abuse victims, bo's story is a disturbing one.
Wow! He doesn't just show the ugliness of WT's policies, his family situation shows how JWs really are an evil cult.
forgiving one another.
why must we be willing to forgive?.
paragraph 18 = 0. .
Thanks Blondie!
Such a creepy article when you consider WT history of protecting pedophiles. And in the examples of David and Manasseh, it sounds like WT would easily forgive murder.
i'm 19, and i'm still currently a jw.
i guess i'm a born-in, or whatever you guys call it.
i've had some serious issues with the faith at the moment, and sexuality is a huge part.
Welcome Magotan!
You've already gotten good advice here, and it sounds like you have a good start on a game plan. You're doing great for a 19 year old who's already faced brutal remarks and beatings to your self-esteem.
We're up to page 4 on this thread and there doesn't seem to be any hateful homophobic comments, so I hope you're not disappointed. LOL.
As far as your title, "Not sure what to do next," part of it will be to read, learn, think, and plan. Then watch as opportunities open up and you'll know when it's time to act.
they just left.
we had a nice "encouraging" chat about my inactivity.
they went through the usual guilt routine, that didnt seem to work so they turned to fear.
Well done.
The elders of my old congregation never try to "shepherd" me directly. They've tried to pressure my parents to try to get me in line, but that certainly hasn't worked. My parents learned not to mention preaching to me, since I've got a pile of responses for that, including:
"My wife was crying the whole time, she usually never cries."
My mom tried tears just once. Although I suppose they were in sincerity, I reminded her that I used to shed many tears when I was trying to live with a set of shifting beliefs and unfulfilled promises that were slowly ruining my life. The transformation of my life to being much more full of life and happiness, she really doesn't see any value in trying to force me to return.
greetings to all jwn members and lurkers,.
i would like to extend all a warm-hearted invitation for our upcoming memorial this march 26th 2013, we will be having the lord's supper at sundown in a jehovah's witness kingdom hall near you.as you can see in this invitation, jesus died for all and that includes abraham, tyndale, pastor russell and many others.
maybe you can identify the remaining key people on the top left side of jesus.we will have a wonderful talk about how jesus gave his life for all humankind thus opening the doors for everlasting life.you can all go to our official website www.jw.org and find the nearest kh where you live, under the tab about us and then go to meetings.you and your family are all invited and it is free.
That must be Mark Twain on the bottom left and Pocahontas on the bottom right. Is that Zorro wearing the hat?
that seems almost redundant to me.
isn't all family business important and necessary?
having a meal with your grown, disfellowshipped child seems to me necessary part of having raised a decent, family-values sort of child.
"Necessary family business" means that if the JW family members are sick or poor, they can speak to the df or da in order to get whatever help they can get from them. Because we know that the local KH doesn't have any provision to care for the needy JWs.

"Is a memorial service supposed to be about the person?"
Not in JWland. For them it's alway about the sales pitch for the religion.
so, a good friend of mine, a pentecostal christian, invited me to go to a retreat with her church.
we're the same age-19 years.
we were friends before i became a witness and she was always patient and caring with me especially throughout my arrogant spell as a witness.
3 days? Sounds like 2 days and 23 hours too many, if you ask me.
Because if you're 15 minutes into this retreat and you want to go home because it tastes like just another flavor of cult, this setup will make it hard for you to just walk away.

Cool!
